Leagues are the backbone of Ultimate Long Drive. Most ULD competitors earn their way to the World Championship through league play: the points races, and the the league championships run by Tournament Directors who know their market.
For the 2026–27 season, ULD is opening that system wider than ever. There are now three ways to run a ULD league, and one of them doesn’t need a single yard of grass.
Outdoor Territory License
The traditional ULD league. A Tournament Director licenses an exclusive geographic territory and runs a season of at least six events plus a league championship. The territory license covers every venue type inside that territory: outdoor sites, driving ranges and simulator facilities. For golf pros, competitors, promoters and anyone who wants to build long drive in their region from the ground up, this is the full package.
Single-Venue Tech League
Ranges running Trackman, Toptracer, inRange and similar ball-tracking systems can become a ULD league of their own. The venue gets its own points race, its own champion and its own path to Worlds, and it brings a new competitive crowd into the bays on the operator’s schedule. This league can be run by a third party ( a ULD TD) with range acceptance or by the range.
Sim House League: New for 2026–27
Starting with the new season on November 1, ULD is bringing sanctioned long drive indoors. Simulator facilities can now host official ULD league events, either run by the sim house itself or by an independent director who partners with a local sim house.
The setup is about as simple as competitive golf gets. There are no weather cancellations, events can run year-round, and venues put golfers in bays on nights that would otherwise sit empty.
Sim house leagues are available in markets that don’t overlap an existing licensed territory, or with that territory director’s approval.
Same League, Same Stakes
This isn’t a lesser tier. Every ULD league, whether outdoor, range or sim, earns the same standing:
- League points by division, with a points champion crowned each season
- A season-ending League Championship, and every league championship is a ULD major
- Direct qualifying to the ULD World Championship through both the points race and the league championship
- World Ranking Points for every competitor
A player hitting in a sim house league in January is chasing the same World Championship as a player on an outdoor grid in July.
What’s in It for Directors and Venues
Events typically run 2–4 hours, mostly weekends or evenings, which makes a league a strong part-time business for golf pros and coaches and a real revenue add for venues. ULD provides training, event tools, results posting and national promotion.
For range and sim house owners, the math goes beyond fees. A league gives regulars a reason to come back every event, gives new customers a reason to walk in, and gives the venue a spot on a national tour map.
Why Now
Long drive is one of the most accessible competitive formats in golf. You don’t need a handicap, a tee time or four hours. You need speed. Simulators and tracking tech have put that competition within reach of every market in the country, and ULD’s league model is built to put a sanctioned event in every one of them.
