There were three events this weekend causing some moves in World Ranking. It’s early in the 2018/19 ULD™ Championship Series, but not too early to watch the world rankings begin to develop in our series for the first time.

ULD™ Canada

Alberta Series

Tour Commissioner, Fareen Samji has ULD™ Canada off an running with Alberta Series Director, Dan McIntosh getting two events in the books this past week. The series season opener was Thursday March 28th at  X Factor Indoor Golf in Calgary. Brandon Gay went 348 to lead a strong Open Men’s Division in that event and backed it up Saturday the 30th going 383 at Hitz  in Okotoks against another strong field. Brandon took over the Open Men’s Division World Ranking Points top spot from reigning ULD™ World Champions Corey Culver. ULD™ Canada also topped the Open Women’s and Senior Women’s Divisions with Jenna Habib and Kathryn Gibbs respectively charting points their divisions. Greg Bates claimed the number six position in the Senior Men’s division after his first two events.

ULD™ USA

Coastal Carolinas League

Todd Baxley, in the Senior Men’s division, claims Coastal Carolina as his “Home” League for League points consideration and won the season opener at TPC in Murrells Inlet, SC. Todd has also played (and won) a North Florida event. He finished on top again this past weekend int the Coastal Carolinas League second event of the season (March 31st) at Barefoot Golf & Resort taking over the top Senior Men’s division spot in World Ranking Points from 2017 ULD™ World Champion and two-time ULD™ Senior Men’s division champion, Mark Lawrence.  A thunderstorm threatened to prevent the Barefoot event, but those who waited out the storm provided some competitive entertainment. Garrett Newman who contended for the 2018 Open Men’s Division Championship played his first ULD™ event since the the Worlds. The grid at Barefoot is known for the prevailing headwind, but the storm actually quieted the wind a bit. Newman won the Open Men’s division on a rain-soaked grid with a drive of 308. He later went 333 in “for fun” match play after the event. Mark Brown (Open Men’s) made his first ULD™ event of the season and had trouble finding the grid in the first set, but came back strong in the second. Newcomer, Neal Causey finished second to Baxley int he Senior Men’s division. This event had competitors ranging in age from 4 years old to 72. Four year old, Langston Josue made his second event of the season…we think he’s hooked! Twelve year old Gracelyn Toler also made her second event and backed up her top spot in Youth Girls division.

Western Carolinas League

ULD™ Western Carolinas League has it’s season opener Saturday April 6th at Par Tee Range in Cayce, SC. Tournament Director, Matt Ellenburg has posted 4 events thus far including a second event at Par Tee in June and two events at Spring Park Golf in Travelers Rest, SC. Coastal Carolinas League travels to Carolina National in Bolivia, NC Sunday April 7th.

North Florida League

North Florida TD, John Duval set up the return to the very popular Hammock Bay Resort in Palm Coast, Fl on June 22nd. Sitting right on the Atlantic Ocean, this resort is the perfect venue. Make it a weekend! Stay at the resort  and enjoy the surroundings.

Utah – Nevada League

Tournament Director Brian Mielke has been busy all season. He held the first event of the 2018/19 season back in September and has been the top producer all season with three events before March. We’re still waiting for the Spring thaw, so, Brian will be taking his team back to Impact Golf in Draper, Utah for his fourth event on May 3rd.

West Coast Regional Major

June 22, 2019 is the confirmed date for the Western Regional Qualifier at Morongo Golf Club in Tukwet Canyon, Beaumont, CA. The facility has a 400+ yard range and some amazing scenery. Plan to come early, stay late, and play some golf while you’re there. We’ll be traveling straight from the Central Regional in Jefferson City the week before as part of the ULD™ Championship Series road show. We begin an 8000 mile journey to the majors on May 11, 2019 for the Eastern Regional at Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Flintstone, MD.
